The museum’s permanent collection features a selection of Irie Taikichi’s most famous works, capturing the timeless beauty of Nara’s landscapes, temples, and historical artifacts. His photographs serve as an invaluable record of the region’s cultural heritage, preserving scenes that have remained unchanged for centuries.

In addition to Taikichi’s works, the museum also houses a collection of photographs by Risaburo Kudo, some of which have been recognized as Nationally Registered Tangible Cultural Properties. These images provide further insight into Japan’s artistic and historical traditions.

The museum also hosts special exhibitions throughout the year, showcasing different photographers and themes, ensuring that there is always something new to discover.

Designed to blend harmoniously with its surroundings, the museum sits next to the Shin-Yakushiji Temple, home to several Buddhist statues dating back to the early 8th century, all designated as National Treasures. The museum’s modern architecture contrasts beautifully with the historic temple, creating a seamless connection between past and present.
