Located in the Meieki district of Nagoya and situated above Nagoya Station, JR Central Towers are listed as one of the world’s largest train stations.
Completed in 1999 the JR Central Towers are not only home to JR Central rail companies headquarters and main train station in Nagoya, but also to several department stores, shops and a hotel.
If you are coming to Nagoya via train this is the station you will end up at as this station houses Nagoya’s Shinkasen bullet train terminal. The station is also home to the Nagoya City Subway and is also adjacent Nagoya’s other railway stations of Meitetsu, Kintetsu and the Aonami Line. Nagoya like many of Japan’s cities features several competing rail networks that place their infrastructure close to other station to enable passengers to interchange networks easily.
Part of the building houses the Marriott Associa Hotel and the buildings twin towers feature restaurants and bars on their upper floors. The popular Takashimaya department store is part of the complex along with numerous cafes and restaurants.
