Nakano Broadway

Nakano Broadway, often considered a paradise for anime, manga, and pop culture enthusiasts, is a large shopping centre located in the vibrant district of Nakano. This multi-storey centre is a treasure trove of collectables, vintage items, and unique finds. Whether you’re a dedicated otaku or simply curious about Japanese pop culture, Nakano Broadway offers an unforgettable shopping experience.

First opening its doors in 1966 as a modern shopping complex, Nakano Broadway experienced a decline in popularity by the 1980s. However, the centre saw a significant revival when the popular used manga store Mandarake opened in the complex. Soon, other similar businesses followed, capitalising on Mandarake’s success just as Japan’s anime and manga culture began to boom. Today, Nakano Broadway has evolved into a haven for pop culture fans and is renowned worldwide for its eclectic mix of shops, each brimming with rare and sought-after items.
