Sapporo TV Tower

Built in 1957, the Sapporo TV Tower sits at one end of Odori Park and provides great views across the city.

Sapporo TV Tower

The tower was modeled after Paris’ Eiffel Tower, and at 147.2 meters high, it is the 4th tallest tower in Japan.

While the tower’s main function is to provide TV transmission to the residents of Sapporo, it is also a popular tourist spot, with its observation deck located at a height of 90 meters.

Several shops are located on the ground and basement levels, with another souvenir shop on the 3rd level, just below the halfway mark to the observation deck.

Entry to the observation levels costs around 700 yen, while entry to levels 3 and below is free. There is also a tourist information stand located at the Sapporo TV Tower, so a visit to the tower should be one of the first destinations on your trip.

The Sapporo TV Tower is located at one end of Odori Park, and the tower’s underground shopping center connects directly to Odori Subway Station on the Toho, Tozai, and Nanboku Subway lines.
